New Release
First up, Book 1 of the Fruit of the Spirit Series is out in the world!
It’s about Dana, a hassled single mom who pours her heart into raising her 9-year-old son with hemophilia. She meets Ethan, a socially awkward techie with a secret crush on her. Their paths cross, and the gentle guidance of God’s hand shows them that genuine love, trust, and hope are revealed only through Him.
That’s a lesson I have to relearn with some regularity in my own life. Maybe writing about it will make it stick this time, I don’t know. I’ll have to get back to you on that.
I should say that my grand plan for releasing the individual books of this series collapsed in on itself. I was sure I’d be able to get Book 2 out (I even kinda promised it at the end of Book 1!) That didn’t happen, and I apologize profusely. Normally, this isn’t a big deal, but the books are all going to be on Kindle Unlimited, and it’s my understanding KU readers are big bingers of series fiction. So sorry about that. But it will result in a better book, I promise. And I will never make a promise like that again.
Anyway, I’m deep into edits for Book 2, so that will be forthcoming.
In other news, I updated my Welcome email for new subscribers, because I had a picture of my kitty, Shadow, to greet them (more or less, he had a way of glaring). Well, Shadow passed last year, at 19 years old. That’s a pretty good run, so I’m not complaining, but it was terribly sad here for awhile. And let me tell you, he was an ass. But you know how it is. Despite all the work or expense, or any amount of ass-ery, I miss my little buddy. I thought of all this when I came across this poem, and I wanted to share it with you, because it gave me such comfort. This cat looks exactly like Shad, that’s why it caught my eye.
Tell me you’re not a blubbering blob of goo right now. If you have pets, you know.
All right, enough of that.
My last letter to you was in December! Yeeks. Since then, I had a book-signing at the Sevierville, TN Applachian Wordfest that turned out to be quite fun, even though I have a horror of not figuring out correct change. I had to drive forever to get there. Next time, I’ll travel the day before, like a few of my wiser friends. I sold a few books, met some wonderful people, and spent the day telling myself I’m not here to buy books, I’m here to sell them. I kept to that vow, miraculously, but I came home with a very long TBR list.
And finally, for my fellow writers who, like me, continuously wonder why anyone would want to read anything I write, since I’m really Not That Good, here’s a video that should cheer you up. Stay positive, stay writing, and trust the God who prompted you to put pen to paper in the first place!
Love, Susan
